Mischief. A second tally beside your XP for the lapses โ and a Handler that remembers them.
A mark never touches the clock, never takes XP and never widens what anybody may do to you. What
it changes is how your Handler treats you. Migration 21 (two columns on tasks, two on
activities); the first tick only starts the clock, so nothing from before the upgrade is judged.
- Marks for a missed reflection (๐ Blank page, 2), a check-in left overdue while locked (๐ Went quiet, 1 a stretch, never overnight), training left to run out (๐ป Ghosted, 2) or given up on honestly (๐ Owned up, 1 โ honesty costs less), a habit's talking-to (๐ค Slacking, 1), and an order you answered with a different habit (๐ Zoomies โ warm 1, firm 2, strict 3). Each is a row in your log that follows the lapse it is about: undo that, and the mark stops counting. At most 4 a day; each counts for a week.
- Never marked: the emergency key, the safeword, a pause or a recovery day (held back at weight 0, once, and the log says so), training somebody withdrew.
- Standing โ ๐พ Good boy ยท ๐ Watched (1+) ยท ๐ฆฎ Short leash (3+) ยท ๐ In the doghouse (6+) โ on
the Handler's card and page. On a short leash check-ins come twice as often (never under an
hour;
mischief.leash). In the doghouse the Handler's "good boy" lines go cool. - Lapse questions. Lines tagged
lapse:<mark>in the Handler's library (a set is seeded once) are never drawn on an ordinary day โ only asked about a lapse: today's reflection asks about the newest live mark from before today began, and the check-in asks too, by temperament (a strict Handler at every check-in until you answer). The library editor shows tags now, and a save that sends none keeps them. - Confessions. A reflection written to a lapse question clears that mark; a Confess form on the Handler page does the same outside the daily reflection (+5 XP). Two a day clear marks.
- How strict they are โ
handler.strictness, warm ยท firm ยท strict, on Settings โ Handler โ is now the one temperament: Mischief weighs and asks by it, and the AI Handler speaks in it. It replaces the AI's own How it speaks (ai.persona), whose value is carried across once. - Orders. A training task can name a habit (and minutes): logging it inside the window completes it on its own โ bouts add up, a calendar feed counts. Standing days on a habit (Settings โ Habits โ ๐ ) issue one each day, due at midnight. An order that runs out while you logged a different habit is off-script: the failure says what you did instead.
- The AI Handler is told your standing (level, points, live marks by kind and age โ never a habit's name, never a held-back mark) and how to treat each, and may give an order under Assign training. A pack's Handler cannot order a habit this round (refused, never sent on as plain training). Your standing is never on a pack card, in the bot's room or on a share card.
